Christmas came early for 26 teenagers in the Phoenix area last week thanks to a partnership between Mongoose, Boys & Girls Club of the Valley, USA BMX Foundation, McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, professional NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) driver Jack Wood, and Swire Coca-Cola.
Mongoose BMX pros Cam Wood and Mason Hayes visited the Boys & Girls Club – Littleton Branch to team up with Jack to speak with local teens about topics like healthy habits, work ethic, and skills required in life and BMX and motorsports.
During the visit, Swire Coca-Cola surprised each teen with the gift of their very own Mongoose Rebel RS1 BMX bike and Rebel helmet! Needless to say, they were stoked! Afterward, they were treated to a bike demo of Cam and Mason jumping their race bikes and then the teens got to ride with the pros team including BMX Olympian Brooke Crain.
The USA BMX Foundation also donated a BMX STEM Program to the Littleton Branch. As one of the only programs around that combines physical education with STEM, it uses bikes to teach students a diverse range of subjects like geometry, statistics, prototyping, and more. The donation included five Mongoose bikes with helmets, bike computers, bike tools, and a six-module course to incorporate into the branch’s after-school youth programs.
To finish the experience, the teens were invited to the NCTS finale at Phoenix Raceway, where they received a custom Mongoose BMX race jersey, spent time in the track infield, and checked out Jack Wood’s No. 91 Mongoose / USA BMX Foundation truck before the race.
It was an unforgettable experience for the teens and all the partners involved.
